Community supported projects fully funded by Enderta Regional Development Association (ERDA)

Project 1:-  ERDA initiated its first project by building Zereroha Elementary school in the village of Zereroha within the district of what was historically known as Didiba-Dergajen located in Southeastern Zone (Enderta), Tigray, Ethiopia.  On September 29th, Zereroha’s community, students and ERDA’s Board members participated in the plaque unveiling ceremony for the construction of the school.  The school’s construction was completed on February 2011, and the school has opened its doors for more than 150 students.

Project 2​:-   The plaque unveiling ceremony for the construction of ERDA’s second school took place on May 2011 in the village of Hidmo in the district of what was historically known as Gabat-Milash located in Southeastern Zone (Enderta), Tigray, Ethiopia, the school’s construction was completed on September 2012.  Hidmo, the only Elementary School in the area has given the chance for more than 200 students to go to school.

Project 3:  On May 23rd, 2013 In the presence of ERDA’s president, its secretary and few of ERDA’s chapter leaders, and members of the Bitquila community, the plaque unveiling ceremony for ERDA’s third project took place in Bitiqula in the district of Saharti-Samre located in Southeastern Zone (Enderta), Tigray, Ethiopia,  In less than a year, the school’s construction was completed, and on April 2014, the newly built school  opened its doors for more than 150 students.

Project 4:  ERDA’s committee in Ethiopia scouted and identified 4 schools in Southeastern Zone (Enderta) based on the following criteria;

1. Number of students must be greater or equal to 150

2. The status of the school is worst than any other in the area

3. Readiness of the community to participate in the construction of the school

4. Fair distribution of school project ERDA is taking in the region or zone when the top three criteria are met.

Based on the above criteria and the 4 schools that were nominated and presented to the Board, the Board selected Adi Mesno Elementary school found in the district of Hintalo-Wajirat located in Southeastern Zone (Enderta), Tigray, Ethiopia, as its 4th project. Its construction was completed in less than a year and on June 9th, 2015, the Inauguration plaque was unveiled to commemorate the opening of Adimesno Elementrry School just in time before the 8th reunion of ERDA in Portland Oregon United States. The school has opened its doors for more than 250 students.

Project 5: ERDA’s fifth project is the building of an elementary school in the village of Chelle outside of the city of samre located 87 km southwest of Meqele. Chelle which is found in the district of Saharti-Samre located in Southeastern Zone (Enderta), Tigray, Ethiopia  upon the school’s completion, it will give an opportunity for about 670 students. The plaque unveiling ceremony for the construction of the school took place on the month of July, 2015 and construction has already began.  We hope to see the completion of the school’s construction before ERDA’s reunion on July 2016 in Atlanta, GA, United States.
